Joy Division

So I was watching this movie "Wristcutters, A Love Story" and I noticed they were playing a lot of music from bands which had a member(s) commit suicide which I thought was a great little touch. Anyway they used "Love will tear us apart" and I decided I wanted to post the EP but then figured most people probably have it so this is for the people who never got into Joy Division. It's a nice little smattering of their more popular songs perfect for a beginner and highly recommended, plus tonight just seemed like one of those nights to put this on.

Comments

So I hadn't realized that I had it set so that only people with google accounts could comment, I have now changed it and anyone can post anonymously, just an FYI. Also if you'd like to leave me feedback good or bad on any of the reviews or random ramblings I post it would be much appreciated. since I am recently unemployed I have a lot more time on my hands and will be trying to post more reviews and what not. Thanks for checking the site I really appreciate it and tell your friends!

Dear,

Dear Avey Tare, Panda Bear, Geologist and Deakin,
Thank you, your music kicks open doors in my head I never knew existed but enters by jumping through a closed window, glass shattering everywhere. It then wildly bleeds all over the furniture leaving animalistic blood stained paw prints everywhere. It aburptly stops in the center of the room calm for a moment, opens its mouth yet utters not a sound but the most true blue sky comes screaming out filling the room with awe and beauty. Slowly the sky drips from the walls exposing the cracked and dreary gray paint, it swirls and swirls getting faster and faster pulling me higher from the inside of my skull then drops me to floor while rushing out my ears from which it came, leaving me totally spent and exhilarated. Gasping for air I lay there on the floor crumpled in the most comfortable position, tears in my eyes, sky in my heart, now I am ready to take on the day.

awake again, always.

sometimes when I wake up from a dream I'm tired as if I have just lived a whole day and need to go to sleep. Where do I go in these dreams? I hope its summer wherever it is and that its near a beach with a beautiful woman waiting for me on a big fluffy white blanket. I have always wanted a nice fluffy blanket to keep in my car for those moments when you just need to lay out in the sun or under the stars. Its been too long since that has happened but it seems as if the winter has only just begun, not in my dreams though. This Massive Attack album is really great, prefect for these cold winter days or cold winter nights as it relates to me so far and perfect for these hazy summer days in my head, I hope they timed this release knowing that it would be a savior to those of us driven inside by blustery winds and dangerously low flying icicles.

Broken Bells

Here's another one that just leaked, it doesn't come out until 3/9/10, wow it feels strange writing 10 in the date. This one too I haven't had a chance to listen to but the single The High Road is a really great track that makes me super excited to give this the proverbial spin. Its starts out with these great bleeps that sound like they are coming from some broken or warped gaming system that never existed and then breaks into a nice relaxing steady groove for the first verse. After that there comes in this beautifully chilled out hook that I can't get enough of right now and just continues on that blissful relaxing tip for the rest of the track, wonderful.

edit: so it turns out the album for me doesn't really hold up to the single, the last song is really good but the rest while not bad just doesn't live up to what I had expected in my headspace. Oh well, still definitely worth a listen.

The Drums

Light, fluffy yet filled with emotion accompanied by happy sun glass wearing grooves, this is the perfect way to combat those new year blues suffered by all us hopeless romantics.
