King Tubby Meets Scientist - In a Revival Dub

King Tubby and his apprentice Scientist produced some of the most seminal dub works of 70's Jamaican reggae. 'In A Revival Dub' features the pair of studio masters tackling Jah Thomas' 'Midnight Rock' and other productions with a sack of killer reductions and abstractions for the dance. Nkumah 'Jah' Thomas was one of the finest deejays to come out of mid-70's Jamaican reggae scene, honing his skills in the Three Mile and Waterhouse districts of Western Kingston in the sink or swim world of the demanding dancehall crowds. His biggest tune 'Midnight Rock' was originally released on Alvin Ranglin's GG label and featured the Roots Radics in heavy form under his direction, crafting a hit riddim strictly for the dance. Scientist and King Tubby duly set about his riddims with some 14 back and forth versions, with Tubby applying his pristine sound to separate the sounds into cavernous shapes while Scientist makes his versions swelter in drowsily blissful soundscapes to let your mind and feet wander.
