The Donca Matic Singalongs

More spacey jazz than spaced-out jazz -- a cool collection of mellow groovers that draw from a range of soulful styles from the 60s and 70s! Some cuts are electric, others more acoustic -- and sounds shift from spiritual jazz to fusion-based -- but always with the right sort of laidback approach to fit the spacey promise of the title! You may know some artists here from their more upbeat work, but the set focuses on mellower cuts throughout -- with lots of great keyboard bits and jazzy instrumentation, plus a bit of vocals as well. Titles include "Electric Moon" by Alphonse Mouzon, "Milky Way" by Roland Kovac, "Space Bugaloo" by Mike Nock, "Astral Traveling" by Pharoah Sanders, "Walkin On The Moon" by Sun Ra, "Moon & Sand" by Kenny Burrell, "Look To The Star" by Abbey Lincoln, "Capricorn" by George Duke, "Time & Space" by Roy Ayers, "Mirror Pond Of Stars" by Don Ellis, "Here Comes The Sun (edit)" by George Benson, and "Galaxy In Turiya" by Alice Coltrane. © 1996-2009, Dusty Groove America, Inc.

What Will We Be is your typical Devendra Banhart record. Although by "typical", we do of course mean a stark raving bonkers serving of freaky folk.
Recorded in a "small wooden house" in California, it picks up where 2007's Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon left off.(Guardian)

statically charged melodies swirling in a beautifully vast empty space... at least that's what it sounds like to me. I know this isn't new, in fact it came out in 2006 but its one of my favorite albums and I wanted to share it with those who have not heard.
