Highly highly recommended, great compilation for an awesome lo-fi / psychedelic label.
They have a bunch of shows coming up with Washed Out and Picture Planes, what great shows those are gonna be !!
One of the most promising newer acts, Sunndreamm EP was really great and I'm super excited to give this new EP a listen. They are on tour right now and I would strongly urge you to check them out if they are in your area, I know I will be catching them here in NY.

I can't believe I haven't posted this, I think I meant to do it last year some time and then never got around to it. Anyway this album is phenomenal, the name of the band and album is really a great description of the music, these songs kind of just chug along with these beautiful grooves and melodies. They trick you into thinking they don't go anywhere but still keep you extremely interested and keep your head moving with amazingly subtle yet very impactful changes, highly recommended.
Here is a great EP that is full of wonderful electro pop tracks that sound like they were made in the 80's by advanced time travelers from the future and then as they were taking the EP back to the future it fell out of their pocket into 2009.

Nice fresh single from a new band with a lot of potential, the track starts with real infectious drums and bassline then some soaring synths ride in. I'm really liking this song and can't wait for their EP which is supposed to drop in April. Also included in this are two remixes of the song one being done by a favorite artists of mine, Memory Tapes !!!
mmm vinyl, this band kicks ass, I know I wasn't gonna pick favorites for 2009 but if I had to their full length would be my favorite of oh 9. Anyway these tracks came from two different radio shows they played one being at UMass and the other at Vasser College, only 300 copies of this were released and sold at shows on this past tour. So since most of us couldn't get our hands on the vinyl I deliver it you in almost all its glory, even though its lost a bit of its feeling since being ripped these recordings sound really great and they nail their songs.
This is TVOTR's first EP and to me their best out put to date, it came out in 2003 and has the song Staring At The Sun which got a ton of play on MTV2 at the time and is a really great video, simple but so fitting. Not to say that I don't like their newer stuff because I enjoy everything they have done for the most part but something about this record is so dark and raw, they could of put out all crap after this and I would still love them.

This 7" release is being given away as mp3's for free! these are songs that were cut from Bitte Orca which was by far one of the better albums to come out last year but don't let the fact that they were cut fool you. They are playing The Allen Room at Lincoln Center on Feb 19th, so if your in the city go check it out because they really kill it live. Also when you download this, you are automatically entered into a contest to win the physical copy, 20 people will be chosen.
This is a rip of the vinyl only release from a great musician who you may know from his work as Eluvium, limited to 2000 copies it came out in 2008. Oh and it's beautiful
