Emancipator - Safe In The Steep Cliffs

I want to preface this by saying that "Soon It Will Be Cold Enough" is one of my favorite downtempo albums ever made. Ok that being said Emancipators long awaited and I mean loooong awaited follow up "Safe In The Steep Cliffs" is a wonderful little piece of music. One thing you'll notice right from the get go is the proliferation of live instrumentation and it really adds an amazingly "full of life" layer to the soundscapes he produces. While the album sounds a bit similar to SIWBCE you can really notice the higher production value and the subtle intricacies that give this release a wider and more developed sound. There are also some more horns on this album that are a real welcome addition and add wonderfully to the overall melancholy vibe of the album. All in all this a real solid release from a really talented up and coming producer. I really hope he has plans to make it to New York soon because I hear only great things about his live show.
